Answer (1 of 2): Just don’t. Really. Manually installing mods only results in chaos and a buggy game. I recently switched from NMM to MO2 and my only regret is not doing so sooner. I have mods installed and my game runs smoothly without any glitches or crashes. If you haven’t already done so. · Worshop mods would (generally) be safer than mods from anywhere else. I'm sure there are others who've had the same experience with mods from Nexus and/or ModDB. I can't speak for other games, but workshop mods for HWRM / HW2 on steam don't change any of your game files at all. The mod comes in a bltadwin.ru file, and it's either used, or it's not. · Next, simply Install and Uninstall using a mod manager of your choice, alternatively add or remove Point That Somewhere Else!.esp from the data folder as required. There are no particular load-order requirements for using this mod.

Apparently, Nexus developers are uncomfortable with designing a system that allows files to be deleted and not served to users, so they've opted take one feature away to support another. This was the message from Dark (owner of Nexus Mods) announcing the change on the Nexus API Discord.
